About One Thousand Gifts and Ann Voskamp

“Always be joyful. Keep on praying. No matter what happens, always be thankful, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.” — 1 Thess. 5:16-18

Ann Voskamp was challenged by a friend to write down a list of 1000 ways God was blessing her daily.  She discovered that every second of our lives is A Holy Experience (click to read Ann’s blog), because God’s purpose and kingdom is worked out in the minutae of our lives, even those parts that on the surface can seem far from beautiful.

An amazing book called One Thousand Gifts emerged from this daily exercise, as did a new Ann, as a butterfly from a chrysalis, she was changed by the challenge in ways she never thought she would be.  God works miracles through our thanks.

About the authors of Blessed.

Lizzie is a minister’s wife in the middle of the UK. Leah is a Photographer in the Midwest of the USA. Lizzie is mummy to two darling little girls. Leah is wife to one tall, dark, and handsome Englishman. Lizzie grew up in Chile, the child of missionaries. Leah grew up in Minnesota, then fell in love with God and ministry and lived all over the world for 7 years. Lizzie is a writer at heart. Leah is a writer at heart.

They met at a Theological college in the west country of England, two artistic souls struggling to experience their God in the dusty pages of their textbooks and sometimes far too dry essays. They lived down the hall from one another, prayed one another through, cried a bit, laughed a bit, and loved a lot. Now they live across the ocean from one another, but they still pray one another through, cry a bit, laugh a bit, and love a lot.

A true Brit, Lizzie drinks copious amounts of tea, while Leah prefers creamy coffee.

We hope you enjoy our joint list here on this blog, as we count and recount the blessings in every waking moment.  Why not join us, and Ann, in writing your own list?  There is beauty all around us.  It is God’s handwriting.  We just need to open our eyes.
